The Shift Toward Electric Vehicles

As mentioned, there are a few forces behind the shift to EVs, which are each outlined below. With most car manufacturers jumping on board, understanding the motivations behind this shift is essential.

Government Regulations

The auto industry has had to reconsider how it approaches the production of vehicles due to the increased public awareness of climate change and its effects. Compared to conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, EVs have zero exhaust emissions, making them a far cleaner option. EVs are considered a major component in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector, which has become a vital objective in combating climate change.

Technological Advancements

Advancements in battery technology have fueled an increased emphasis on EVs. For instance, lithium-ion batteries are now more affordable and efficient, with greater ranges and quicker charge periods. This has lessened what's called "range anxiety" and has removed one of the main obstacles to the widespread adoption of EVs.

Consumer Interest

As consumers become more aware of climate issues, their interest in environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation solutions is rising. Nowadays, more and more consumers are considering purchasing an EV because of its smaller carbon footprint, lower running expenses, and quieter, more comfortable ride.

Increased Range

A few years ago, the only EVs offered were smaller commuter cars, but they weren’t an option for families or those who use their vehicles for work, such as the trades. Automakers are now expanding the range of EVs they provide in order to meet the needs of different market niches; this includes high-performance electric sports cars, electric SUVs for families, and even electric trucks. This diversification aids in meeting a greater variety of customer tastes and wants.

In addition, automakers are working with government officials and infrastructural networks to make charging stations more accessible both at home and on the road.

An Overview of the Toyota bZ4X

One look at the bZ4X, and you can see it’s different: its aggressive, futuristic styling is sleek and eye-catching, drawing you in to see more. The bZ4X is built on the e-TNGA platform, the combined brainchild of Toyota and Subaru, which provides enhanced driving performance, a smooth ride, and confidence through stability while driving. That confidence increases when you choose the available all-wheel drive with X-Mode, giving you the traction you need to handle any road conditions. Other highlights of the bZ4X include...

Performance

The e-TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform was created not only to provide impressive performance but also to give drivers and passengers a luxurious cabin with plenty of head and legroom and comfort, whether you’re taking out-of-town guests sight-seeing around the city or enjoying a weekend at The Ravine.

Performance is evident in the innovative electric motor, which provides you with almost instantaneous torque. You can choose between front-wheel drive, producing 201 hp and 196 lb-ft of torque, or all-wheel drive, with 214 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the estimated drive range for the bZ4X is up to 252 miles for front-wheel drive models and up to 228 miles with the all-wheel drive option.

Another factor that “fuels” the bZ4X’s performance is the addition of Regenerative Braking with Boost Mode. While all EVs offer regenerative braking, Toyota’s design offers a different way of harnessing power by optimizing its benefits and allowing the car to regain even more lost energy. Finally, the bZ4X's suspension system increases enjoyment during the drive by reducing vibrations and road noise, allowing you to focus on the road with minimal distractions.

Technology

Regardless of whether you choose the XLE or Limited trim, you’ll enjoy a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia with six speakers and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. You’ll also enjoy the top-mount Multi-Information Display that’s placed right at your eyeline above the steering wheel; this display gives you vital information while allowing your focus to stay on the road.

Additional technology features include the standard Qi wireless charger and multiple USB-C ports, as well as a USB-A port to keep everyone connected and charged. Another advantage you’ll enjoy is the ability to unlock/lock and start/stop your bZ4X with your phone; this feature is available by accessing your digital key with Remote Connected Services.

Charging

Charging your bZ4X is easy. The vehicle includes a portable Level 1 AC charging cord that plugs into a standard household outlet, letting you recharge it at home. The bZ4X is also compatible with Level 2 (240-volt) charging and DC Fast Charging.

Both of these options can be found at public charging stations, or you can inquire about the installation of a Level 2 charging station at your home. Front-wheel models charge at 150 kilowatts, while all-wheel drive vehicles charge at 100 kilowatts. You can easily find both Level 2 and DC Fast Charging stations around Manhattan by using the Toyota app on your smartphone.

Safety

Toyota includes its Safety Sense 3.0 suite with the bZ4X. This collection includes typical driver assistance features, such as blind spot monitoring and pre-collision avoidance. In addition, it also provides you with available guardrail detection, a 360-degree camera that uses millimeter wave radar, daytime motorcyclist detection, and more in certain trim levels. The bZ4X also comes with complimentary maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles and 24-hour roadside assistance for three years.
